Gunmen Kill Woman, husband kidnapped in the Ivbiaro community

The pain and indignation have gone through Ubuneke-Ivbiaro in the area of โ€‹โ€‹the local local government of Owan in the state of Edo on Sunday evening, after armed men invaded a residence, they shot a woman death and kidnapped her husband.

The attackers, who were believed to have emerged from the route of the Ivbiaro-Auchi-Iiikpeshi forest, scored around 20:00, shooting the woman around the neck before seizing her husband, Arimazoya Abona, who has seventy.

The witnesses told how the neighbors, warned by the sound of the shots, rushed to the scene only to find the lifeless body of the woman lying in a pool of blood in front of the house, while her husband had been forcibly taken away.

Despite a rapid mobilization of the young clubs who ventured into the forest in an attempt to save the victim, their efforts proved without success.

Residents expressed frustration for what they described as the slow response of the security agencies.

According to reports, the Nigeria police at the headquarters of the Afuze division was informed of the attack on Sunday evening, but did not respond until 8 in the next morning.

When the officers arrived in the end, they were accompanied by the staff of the Nigerian army and the woman’s corpse was brought to the morgue.

Remember that such an attack on March 8, 2024 had taken the life of Danjuma Emokpaire. He was killed in his farm in the same community.

His body was found the next day after he was unable to return home, pushing a research by the worried people.

The community also undergone previous episodes of kidnapping, including the kidnapping of a farmer who was subsequently released after the redemption was paid. In a particularly heartbreaking case of May 15, 2017, armed men, suspected of being shepherds, attacked a couple on their farm, brutally beating their husband and raping his wife in his presence.

A series of violent accidents, including attacks on travelers on the Ivbiaro-Auchi route, transformed what was once a peaceful area in an area of โ€‹โ€‹fear.

Reacting at the last tragedy, the chief Isah Umoru Osikhekhai, the head of the village of the neighbor Ivbikhulotor, described the killing and kidnapping as barbarians and deeply alarming.

He complained that insecurity has robbed the people of their livelihood, since many are now too afraid to go to their farms.
