Having box brother helps Djokovic “at a different level”


Novak Djokovic says that having his brother Marko next to him at Monte Carlo Masters “will help me at a different level emotionally”.

Djokovic of Serbia, chasing a 100th title for individual ATP Tour, is without coach Andy Murray at the Clay-Court event this week.

Djokovic said that “He was never a part of the agreement to work with Andy this week”, with the British who should return for Madrid Open later in April.

“My brother Marko was able to join me, so this helps me at a different level emotionally,” said the Grand Slam champion 24 times Djokovic.

“I have some time with my brother and spend some time with him traveling.”

The number five in the world Djokovic has reached his first final of the season at Miami Open, losing against the Czech teenager Jakub Mesik.

The 37 -year -old did not win a title for singles on the tour since the end of the ATP Tour finals in 2023, with his very upset Olympic gold that does not count as an ATP title.

Djokovic was annoyed by a swollen eye during the final against Anzik and said he had a “little viral infection” in view of Monte Carlo.

“The day of the semifinals began in Miami and I struggled with it in the final, but it’s calming,” said Djokovic.

β€œI am happy to have found that joy in the field in Miami and, I feel, the level of performance.

“It is more about trying to get games and as many as possible, and of course to try to reach the peak towards the end of the clay season.”

Djokovic of third seed has a farewell in the first round and will open against the veteran colleague Stan Wawrinka or Chile Alejandro Tabilo.

Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and British Jack Draper are all in competition in Monte Carlo, who takes place from 6 to 13 April.
