Heartland triggers three coaches in greater shake

Heartland of Owerri has embarked on an important reorganization to align with its objectives to participate in the Second League League of Nigeria, the Nigeria National League (NNL), in the 2025/2026 season, Completsports.com information.

The checks reveal that the Naze Millionaires, once again read, have abandoned three members of their technical team as they accommodate in life in the NNL after their descent from the NPFL at the end of the 2024/2025 season.

The relieved of their duties for the club’s hierarchy include Charles Uzor, Emma Olowo and Ike Thankgod.

The club official defends the decision

“It is normal in the game. Relowing some staff members of their duties, this time, the coaches, at the end of a season it is not new in football,” said a club official to Completisports.com on Owerri on Monday, August 25, 2025.

“Each organization does actions at the end of each year. You evaluate your actions in the outgoing year and make projections for next year. Therefore, the case of Heartland is nothing new.

“Like the players, the coaches move or are dismissed at the end of each season, and as such, I see nothing unusual in the decision that the club took to show some coaches the exit door. After all, the club will participate in the NNL and may not require a swollen training team, or a large game team.”

The preseason preparations intensified

Heartland regrouped in June and since then has intensified preparations for the next season, and many believe that the team is now seen in a better way than during their time in the NPFL.

One of the coaches, who spoke with Completarsports.com under anonymity, said the Tico/Select Pre -season tournament was a massive impulse for team preparations this year.

“Last season, we went to the campaign without an important preseason tournament to evaluate our players,” said the coach.

“We headed to the Tico/Tico preseason tournament when one of our coaches, Christian Obi, died in an accident. That sad and painful incident sank our participation in the preseason tournament, forcing us not to participate in any other important preseason game before the great season 2024/2025 NPFL.

Remembering the late coach Obi

It will be remembered that the deceased Christian Obi died in a horrible car accident in Okigwe on August 23, 2024, while leaving the Heartland team to the preseason tournament last year in ENUGU.
