In a press interaction on Saturday, Captain Ahmed Musa of the Super Eagles candidly admitted to the significant pressure the team is facing as they strive to dispel skepticism at the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
Musa underscored that the heightened expectations are, in part, attributed to the presence of the reigning African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen.
“We have good players in your team, one of the best in Africa is also in our team. The King of Africa (Victor Osimhen) in our team, obviously the pressure will be much”
“We cannot be making noise on social media about what we are going to do at the AFCON. We have to prove ourselves on the pitch.” He said.
The Super Eagles will start their 2023 AFCON campaign against the Mambas of Equitorial Guinea on Sunday.
The Super Eagles, according to bookmakers are the favorites for the three points.
