How I wish I was buried – Onyeka Onwenu – TrendyNewsReporters

Onyeka Onwenu has revealed how she wishes to be buried ahead of her shocking demise.

The legendary singer, actress, journalist, author and politician, known for her talent and activism, died on Tuesday evening, July 30, at Reddington Hospital, Lagos after collapsing during the birthday party of Mrs Stella Okoli, where she had performed for the last time.

Following her death, an opinion piece she published in Premium Times in 2021 is gaining renewed interest.

In the article, Onyeka explained how she wanted to be buried.
She urged her loved ones to “mourn, yes, but not excessively,” and to instead focus on celebrating her life with prayers and lighthearted moments.
She added: “Celebrate me with prayers, lunch or dinner afterwards. Share some jokes about me and laugh.
“Party and then go do your own thing. If my friends want to party with me, they should do it while I’m alive, so I can enjoy it with them, not when I’m gone and have no idea. This is me, Onyeka Onwenu.”
He said: “I feel very uncomfortable with the lavish display of wealth on any occasion, especially in a time of hardship and lack for most people.”
He then called for more modest and meaningful ways to honor the deceased.
