‘I am ashamed to be a nigerian,’ the woman shouted after the police brutalized her husband in Edo (video)

A Nigerian woman has cried because of the alleged attack on her husband Ghana-German by police officers attached to the Nigerian Mobile (MOPOL) police during the dismissal and search operations along the boundary road between the states of Edo and Agbor, Delta State.

In a trend video that was shared on social media on Thursday, the destroyed woman was heard about the traumatic incident, which stated that her husband visited Nigeria for the first time to celebrate an opportunity with her family in their hometown and finally harassed, who had further hired the country’s image and national shame.

The woman said after the ceremony, she and her husband traveled back to Lagos along with other family members when they were stopped by officers at the checkpoint where the alleged harassment occurred.

In his words, the confused woman said:

“We were on our way back to Lagos by family car when we were stopped by the police officers.

“They say it is a dismissal and search operation. They check our luggage thoroughly and find nothing burdensome.”

He stated that even though he did not find anything burdensome during the search, the officers found a piece of clothes that resembled military camouflage in her husband’s bag, which they claimed was an army uniform.

Continue, he said:

“They say the cloth looks like an army uniform. But it is just a normal clothes we wear in Germany. I don’t even know he is packing it, and I previously warned him that civilians were not allowed to use army equipment here. He did not use it – not even once.”

He added that things increased when officers found that her husband was not a Nigerian after checking his wallet. They demanded that he follow them alone to their base, but he insisted on accompanying him.

“It was a very hot day. My husband was sweating and asked for a tissue to clean his face. My daughter gave him one.

“When he cleaned his sweat, two policemen suddenly grabbed his neck. One of them began to force the tissue into his mouth and shouted that he swallowed medicine.

“They caused an injury to him. They kept screaming ‘he swallowed medicine’ but he only wiped his face. I was surprised. I kept asking what was happening.

“Is that the behavior of Nigerian police? Why are criminals wearing uniforms and brutals of innocent people?

“I brought my husband here to meet my people, and this is what he got? Can he agree to come here again? This is embarrassing. I am very embarrassed to be a Nigerian,” crying.
