Prince Emmanuel Odigie, Deputy Director-General of the Edo State Governorship Campaign Council of the PDP, on Tuesday broke down in tears during an interview with AriseTV Morning Show, as he recounted a heart-wrenching encounter with four women at the airport.
The two women, two from Houston and two from Atlanta, had traveled to Nigeria to vote for Asue Ighodalo for the first time, mobilizing their family and friends to do the same, he said.
Je said they remained disappointed and vowed not to return to Nigeria.
“They think of Asiwaju Tinubu and his fight for democracy and his promise to uphold democracy, but under his watch, this impunity is happening,” Odigie said, her voice shaking with emotion. “I am crying as the women are crying.”
Odigie’s outburst was in response to the results of the Edo governorship election, which declared the APC’s Okpebholo the winner on Monday. The PDP alleged that the election was rigged, and Odigie claimed that more than 30 civil society organizations had confirmed the irregularities.

“Over 30 civil society organisations have confirmed that the election was rigged and anyone accusing the PDP of involvement is kidding themselves. Of course, we have the old PDP that withdrew to support the APC in this crime against Edo people.
“I said earlier there was a master plan by the APC,” Odigie said. “Who could have predicted that such impunity would occur in a democracy where the President is the ECOWAS chairperson?”
Odigie’s words cut to the heart of the matter, questioning the structure of Nigeria’s democracy. “What happened to the will of the people? What happened to the right to vote, competence and the betterment of society?” he asked.
The Edo gubernatorial election has been marred by controversy, with allegations of impunity and rigging threatening to undermine the democratic process. As the dust settles, one thing is clear: Edo people deserve answers.
