‘I just pretended,’ Chimamanda Adichie revealed why fashion was no longer exciting

The famous writer Nigeria and feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie had spoken honestly about his changing feelings for fashion, admitted that he no longer felt the need to maintain his appearance by acting as if he liked it.

Although he first welcomed fashion as a means of expression, Adichie, who had long been praised for his bold fashion choice and support from African designers, revealed that he immediately realized that he played an unrighteous enthusiasm he felt.

Speaking with Youtuber Folashade Samagbeyi, Chimamanda revealed that she and other women in a prominent role, including politics, had previously felt under pressure to appear not interested in fashion to be considered serious.

He claimed, however, that he deliberately chose to openly express his love for fashion to support other women in a comparable role.

Chimamanda said, “For some people, liking fashion means you are not a serious person. So I have a period of pretending because I want to be considered serious as a writer.

“I am also tired of preaching that I am not interested in fashion, when in fact I. I am interested in hair and makeup, so I think that if I talk about it in public, other women like I will feel they don’t need to pretend to pretend.

“The part of the reason I started talking about fashion is because many women who like politics, who have ideas, also like fashion. Why do we have to pretend to be?” He asked.
