The Nigerian singer, Kingsley Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, revealed that he was a professional football player but turned to his second love, music, after not having obtained sponsorship for his football career.

In a conversation with Podcaster, Temisan Emmanuel, the Hitmaker of “Limpopo” said he had played for the Nigerian team, Julius Berger FC and Puma FC in the 90s.

He said that his football career brought him to South Africa and that he was among the players of the next generation who should have taken the place of the Olympic Olympic team of the super Eagles gold who included Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu.

He explained that he went to music after his football career has undergone arrest strokes due to the lack of sponsorships.

Kcee said: “The first time I traveled out of this country was for football. I was playing for Julius Berger. I played for Puma. The first time I went to South Africa was for football. It was before music.

“I was a very young boy. This was in the mid -90s. I was a teenager then. Jay Jay [Okocha] And Kanu was a set in front of me. After them, we would have been like people to take control of Super Eagles. “

He added: “When I discovered that it was difficult to bring my football career to the next level, I collected my next love, music. I was running both side by side. During this, I won Star Quest Talent Hunt and I started making money. So, I had to leave one. This was the reason why I stopped football.”
