I would have loved to play for Celtic

Manchester United great Wayne Rooney has admitted he would have loved to play for Celtic during his playing career.

Speaking to Celtic media, Rooney said he has always been a Celtic fan.

‘Celtic have always been a team I’ve followed and wanted to win.

“Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to play for Celtic. I would have loved to have done so.

“But it didn’t work out and I didn’t get that chance.”

Rooney faced Celtic while with United in the Champions League.

He added: “They were always special games. All Celtic fans travel in droves.”

“Going there to Celtic and experiencing the atmosphere there and the Champions League nights at Celtic was special.

“It’s always special to play for Celtic.”
