Ibrahim Bashir: appreciating the rector of the work maniac, Fedpoy Damataru

On May 1st he is put aside every year as a workers’ day or May. It is to celebrate workers and applaud their contributions to the development of the company. Theme of this year; “Reclaiming the civic space in the middle of economic difficulties” aims to appreciate the contributions of workers who represented the nation, sacrificing their time for the future, create comforting space within the narrow economy and deny their eyes a sleeping beat to solve a problem for the progress of Nigeria.

The day of the workers of this year is for those who are determined to guide the perspective of their workplaces not their homes, who see the reality of their dreams not fiction and those who are not afraid of today because they have a good plan for tomorrow.

While working at the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as a special assistant of the executive secretary, Professor Idris M. Bugaje, one of the famous icons of Contemporary Northern Nigeria, dr. Ibrahim Bashir Bello has credibly performed for the progress of the great NBTE we see today. This was worth the appointment as a rector, federal polytechnic, Damaturu, State Yoube on February 4, 2025.

And in a few months he became a man of wonders. His actions at the Damaturu Federal Polytechnic speak stronger, his dedication sounds the bell of the melody and his commitment comforts the students and staff of the institution for a progressive and excellent learning citadel.

This is the reason why I decided to write to appreciate the giant contributions of an administrator who is out to serve but not to be served, who wants to leave a legacy but not destroy, an archive, a model with foresight, a believer and a Manacoli chain switch.

The Rector has already created a promising preceding the Damaturu Federal Polytechnic with his first successes that have turned on the hope of a brighter future for the institution.

In less than four months in the saddle, Ibrahim Bashir Bello is transforming the Polytechnic into a cutting -edge institution. He quickly addressed the critical problem of current interruptions that had afflicted the school, ending the darkness of more than a year. With the electricity restored, both students and the Polytechnic staff now enjoy a learning and favorable work environment significantly improved.

In a move to encourage collaboration and advance the Polytechnic, the Rector paid a series of familiarization visits to the interested parties. He met the commissioner for basic and secondary education, Yobe State (Assat. Prof. Abba Idris), executive secretary of the Arabic and Islamic Education (Aiseb), Malam Umar Abubakar and member of the Alh Permanent Council. Lawan Abba Shettimo. These efforts strive for the development of the institution to increase professional skills and education in Nigeria and Yoube Tate,

The Federal Polytechnic Damaturu collaborated with the Fika Emirate Council of Potiskum, focusing on the development of skills and on safety improvements. The rector resolved the conflict of the National Union of Yobe Students (Nuyoss) and established a custodian committee.

Driven by the passion for the reform of the Polytechnic and the exploitation of the experience of expert staff, Dr. Ibrahim Bello Bashir has also approved the appointments of several directors and deputy director. It has also established two new departments, applied chemistry and applied physics, while 10 new departments in art and social sciences are in the pipeline.

The rector requested that all contractors resume work to complete the buildings abandoned within the institution. This initiative aims to create improved learning environments for students and more functional offices for staff. The Polytechnic consultancy unit, Fedpodam Consulta, has expanded its courses, designed to provide training and education specialized in various sectors.

With a sort of quality of leadership by Umar Bin Qaddab, Ibrahim Bashir supervises workers and goes around the school to ensure that all the hands are on the bridge. Within a month from his appointment, the Rector made a courtesy visit to the President of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio. He searched for the collaboration of the speaker with the Polytechnic on the skill acquisition initiatives, with the aim of reducing the number of children outside school in the state.

With maximum security and new architecture in surveillance around the school, the Polytechnic has become a peaceful place of learning of excellence.
While celebrating this icon, we pray that the entire staff and students of the Damaturu Federal Polytechnic will continue to support their retrieved of the most positive transformation in the institution. I wish Dr. Ibrahim Bello Bashir other results. Happy workers’ day to the rector and staff, Damaturu Federal Polytechnic.
