ICPC indicts former Governor El-Eufai – Ripples Nigeria

The Independent Commission on Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses (ICPC) on Tuesday arraigned former Governor Nasir El-Rufai before the Federal High Court, Kaduna.

El-Rufai, who was brought to court by security officers in the morning in a Toyota Hilux, was detained in the vehicle for about 25 minutes before being escorted to the courtroom.

Tight security was also deployed around the court as well as the busy Poros Anguwan Sarki – Kawo road by security officers who also formed a protective line around it leading to the courtroom.

Journalists, who were in court to cover the trial, were not prohibited from entering the courtroom.

El-Rufai’s two wives and his son, Bello El-Rufai, a federal lawmaker representing Kaduna North, were also present in court.

The commission previously revealed that El-Rufai and Joel Adoga would be arraigned in suit number FHC/KD/73/2026 at the Federal High Court, Kaduna Judicial Division.

The commission said the charges included conversion and possession of public property as well as money laundering.

“Similarly, another charge number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26 against Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i and one Amadu Sule (LEDA), has also been filed at the Kaduna State High Court at the Kaduna Judicial Division.

“The charges in the District High Court case include abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and providing undue benefits. Both charges were filed by the ICPC on March 18, 2026.”
