ICPC probes Ngige over alleged ‘contract irregularities’ at NSITF

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday questioned former Minister of Manpower and Employment, Chris Ngige, over alleged contract irregularities at the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

He was also accused of extorting work at the institution during his tenure.

The development follows an invitation by a number of NSITF officials regarding the payment of a gratuity of N47 million to the former Managing Director of the institution, Mrs. Maureen Allagoa, while she was still in office.

ICPC spokesman Demola Bakare confirmed Ngige’s invitation on Thursday evening.

He said the former minister was released after being questioned by ICPC officers for several hours.

Ngige served as a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari for eight years.
