Ighodalo PDP headed to the court appeal after the court upholds the victory of Gov Okpebholo

The Democratic Party Candidate (PDP) of the People in the Edo State Governor Election, Asue Ighodalo, has announced his decision to challenge the decision of the Petition Court Election of the Governor of Edo, who strengthens the Monday victory of Okpebholo.

In a statement issued a few hours after the verdict on Wednesday, Ighodalo described the court’s decision as a “justice parody” and confirmed his commitment to pursue the case in the appeal court.

“I have instructed my legal team to continue to the appeal court to challenge this decision. This is not about me or a single individual; this is about the essence of democracy and the right of the people to freely determine their future,” he said.

The court, led by judge Wilfred KPochi, rejected the petition of Ighodalo on the grounds that he had no achievements and failed to give credible witnesses to support the claim of non-compliance with the Election Law.

Apart from setbacks, Ighodalo urged his supporters to remain peaceful and obedient to the law.

“As a person who believes in democracy, I respect the judiciary as the last hope of ordinary people. I urge people both from the state of Edo to remain calm. This is not the end of our journey but the beginning of a greater struggle for justice and the sanctity of the people’s mandate,” he added.

He reiterated that his campaign was never about personal ambitions but about the shared vision for the more prosperous Edo state.

“We remain firm and unshaked in pursuing truth and justice,” said Ighodalo.
