Ball President Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday urged the Federal Capital Minister (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to remain not affected by critics.
Speaking to the inauguration of the newly updated International Conference Center in Abuja, now changed its name to the center of the International Conference of the Ahmed Tinubu Ball, the President stressed the importance of transformative leadership and modern infrastructure in forming the Nigerian development track.
In a sign that combines praise with advice, Tinubu tells Wike: “Don’t pay attention to people who are busy and observers. Whatever they say, continue your good job. You are a transformational leader. You have a vision, a long gight, and the determination to succeed.”
The President, who seemed happy with the facelift given to historic facilities, described the renovation as a symbol of his broader government ambitions to re -define the provision of public services.
“This project is part of our efforts that are determined to change the way we do something, to reflect who we are as quality, character, and great enthusiasm,” said Tinubu. “And I’m happy, it’s a pleasant wike, you reflect that.”
He reiterated his government’s commitment to infrastructure development under the new hope agenda, emphasizing that transportation, health care, education, energy, and urban development remain an important sector for national growth.
“Modern infrastructure is the backbone of the economy that develops in an inclusive and progressive society,” Tinubu added.
The President also used the opportunity to determine a strong tone regarding the use of future facilities, a warning to the culture of rights in political classes. “You have to comply with what the owner says. If you want to use this place, you will pay it,” he said, strengthening the position of Minister FCT before that the hall will withdraw the cost of use, regardless of status.
The event, which was held in the heart of the capital, was attended by a number of high -ranking officials, including the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Finance and Economics Wale Edun, and the Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi.
Nyesom Wike, a key figure in the Democratic Party (PDP) opposition and the former Governor of the State Rivers, was appointed as Minister of FCT in August 2023, a step that triggered debate in all party lines. His presence in the cabinet led by the Congress of all Progress (APC) has been seen by several people as a symbol of the Tinubu Pragmatic Approach to the government.
Also present at the event was Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who was appointed as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in October 2024. Inclusion marked another example of cross-party collaboration, given its affiliation with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
