According to the headquarters of the public relations official of Force, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, IGP has accused the FMT of aligning the police operations with the federal government agenda, underlining the need for a competent professional police, led by the service and conducted by people capable of facing modern security challenges.
The FMT will focus on the reorganization of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Force (FCID) and other investigative units to improve their efficiency.
As part of the reform, the IGP has ordered an update of the Force criminal database and directed the Department of Research and Planning (R&P) to work closely with the Intelligence Force Department (FID) and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve data integration and support investigative operations.
IGP underlined the importance of equipping the police with modern technologies, advanced training and adequate resources to improve investigative ability by guaranteeing professionalism, justice and respect for human rights.
The formation of the new FMT marks a significant step towards improving the effectiveness and responsibility of the Nigerian police forces.
