‘I’m not going anywhere,’ Governor Bala Mohammed reiterated his commitment to the PDP

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Saturday reiterated his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mohammed, who is the Chairman of the Publicity and Communications Sub-Committee of the PDP convention, spoke to journalists after the inaugural meeting of the sub-committee on Saturday in Abuja.

He is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.

The governor said: “I guarantee I’m not going anywhere.

“I am in the PDP and in my state there is no element of division.”

However, Mohammed said that although he was deeply concerned over the defection of some governors to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he had no control over them as they were of equal status.

“As the leader of a group of equal status, I cannot determine the decisions or inactions of my colleagues, but what is certain is that there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes.

“This defection will have a worse impact at first, but we have talked and discussed,” he added.

The governor noted that several of his colleagues had left because they were forced to.

“Sometimes it is done because of permutations and calculations.

“I will not badmouth or speak negatively about my colleagues, but I guarantee I will not go anywhere. I am in the PDP,” Mohammed said.

He also advised those leaving the PDP to stop marketing it as they were leaving.

Regarding the litigation ahead of the party’s national convention, Mohammed said the party leadership was doing everything possible to resolve it.

He noted that much of the litigation was created to weaken the party.

“At the state level, I even saw some people taking us to court to keep us from attending the convention.

“This is not good and makes some people in the National Assembly feel unsafe.

“We are dealing with this problem honestly,” he said.

On speculation that Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, would leave the party, Mohammed said the governor had not informed the party of his position.

“I have discussed the matter with him separately, and he has given me assurances.

“He is a governor like me, and I respect him and his decisions,” the Bauchi governor concluded.
