When he marked his 99th birthday on Monday, Afenifere and Elder Leaders Reuben Fasoranti conveyed a message of hope, stating that Nigeria firmly was on the road to transformation and would soon become a country that would be proud of by citizens.
Speaking during special events held in respect of him at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, respected nonagenarian people expressed strong optimism about the future of the country.
His statement was distributed in a statement issued by the Secretary of the Afenifere National Publicity, Jare Ajayi.
“Although Nigeria might lose the opportunity to develop in the past, hope is very lively now because this country is on the road to progress and greatness,” Fasoranti said.
He associated his new trust on the Nigerian track with the eternal potential of his people and the direction given by the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He quoted the * new hope agenda * as a guide vision that he believed to have produced fruit.

“Nigeria’s future is based on inspiration, and when Tinubu comes to me to express his desire to run for Nigerian president, I pray to the Almighty and I have a nod that the prayer will be answered. We continue to give glory and worship to the highest to answer our prayers,” he said.
Fasoranti also highlighted the political awareness that developed among Joruba people and their important role in a broader African context.
“The future is very bright for Jorubas because they are increasingly aware of the historical role they must play in the emancipation of the black race,” he added.
President Tinubu, in his respect, praised Fasoranti as a “model leadership model,” a sentiment echoed by political leaders, traditional rulers, and academics who gathered to celebrate the iconic figure.
Six southwest governors joined the choir of praise. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa from Ondo State described Fasoranti as “a symbol of patriotism, courage, and rare integrity that lives without self -esteem has become a guide light for the Nigerian generation.”
The Governor of the State of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, praised him as “role model, a leader and father who deserves to be celebrated,” while his colleague Osun, Governor Ademola Adeleke, called Fasoranti “a big asset for the Race Yoruba and Nigeria.”
The Governor of the State Ekiti, Abiodun Oyebbanji, acknowledged the leadership that inspired Fasoranti, noted that “PA Fasoranti has shown an extraordinary exemplary leadership that is worthy of imitating.”
Those who also paid the tribute were the Governor of the State of Lagos Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Governor of the State of Ogun Dapo Abiodun, who described the life of Fasoranti as one that was marked by “courage, honesty, integrity, records that were not disabled in public services, and community service.”
Representing the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, through the clerk of Mr. Go Saliu, underlines the relevance of Fasoranti to national development: “People who want to make progress develop with individual power such as Fasoranti who realize the ideals of the community.”
The main host Basorun Seinde Arogbofa tells of the defense of Fasoranti that is not shaken by the interests of Joruba, especially during regional insecurity.
“There was a time when an external forces threatened the Joruba nation; leaders such as Pa Fasoranti who stood firmly to defend the people,” Arogbofa said.
Former Governor of State Ondo, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, described it as a person who deserves all awards, records its significant impact on the state, especially in ethical education and governance.
The head of the event, Professor Olu Aderounmu, praised Fasoranti for “principled leadership style, human empowerment, and community service.”
