In a bid to revolutionize local government administration, the Financial Autonomy Advisory Committee for the 16 local government areas of Taraba State has launched an innovative blueprint.
The committee, chaired by Rt. Hon. Peter Diah, aims to create a model of efficiency and innovation that sets new standards for local governance, and paves the way for other states to follow suit.
In a socialization activity in Jalingo on Wednesday, the capital of Taraba state, Diah stressed the importance of financial independence for local governments, calling it crucial to accelerate grassroots development. The blueprint focuses on increasing internal revenue generation, efficient resource management and community engagement.
Diah highlighted the importance of local government autonomy, stating, βThis autonomy recognizes the unique needs and challenges of our communities and empowers local leaders to make decisions that directly impact the lives of citizens.
