The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) greeted the election of the lawyer (Mrs.) Amina Zemo as president of the Academic Staff Union of Research Instittes (ASURI), describing it as a powerful approval of inclusion, competence and merit.
In a declaration issued by the head of the gender unit, peace and security of the IPCR, Mrs. Grace Awodu, the Institute has congratulated Zemo for her emergency, observing that this result marks a significant step forward for gender representation in the union leadership.

The IPCR also stressed that, for the first time in its history, both of his unions are now led by women, with Mrs. Caroline Dakut who is currently president of the non -academic Union of staff (Nasu).
“This is a proud moment for IPCR. It shows that the institute is not only preaching gender equity, but actively lives the values of inclusion and enhancement of women,” added the declaration.
The Institute also praised the growing recognition of women’s ability to drive at all levels, saying: “When women guide, excellence follows. This milestone reflects our commitment to growth, equity and true transformation”.
Echo to a popular saying Igbo, the institute reiterated his belief in the power of the girl “Nwa Nwanyi Buy Ukwu – the girl is a great thing”.
The IPCR has urged continuous investments in the training, support and enhancement of girls and women, underlining that their leadership can guide significant progress in all sectors.
