When the Iranian government buried its fallen heroes, its supporters came out in force.

His funeral was attended by the largest crowd since the war began.

A float carrying the coffins of the slain officials was brought to Revolution Square in Tehran, surrounded by mourning mourners. The women cried while holding posters of the former supreme leader and the new leader.

While losing leader after leader, the Iranian government still wants to maintain the feeling that it can survive and outlive its enemies.

Holding a poster that says “Trump humiliated”, one man delivered this message to the US president:

“Trump, we will kill you soon; Netanyahu is not our target anymore, our target is you. You killed our children to mock us and we will kill you to teach you a history lesson.”

Meanwhile Israel and America are seeking regime change IranThe current picture shows that there is still great support for his government.

Mohammed and his wife, Hamideh, came with their children to show support. They told me that the people are united against the actions of the US and Israel.

“It was our weak enemy’s methods that made him a martyr [Ali Larijani] shows his weakness and impotence.

“The way he was killed was completely unfair and unacceptable anywhere in the world.” Muhammad told me.

Iran witnessed massive protests against the government before the war. Thousands of civilians were killed as well as hundreds of security forces, authorities said.

Opposition groups blamed authorities for the crackdown, while the government insisted the protests were sparked by foreign powers.

Sepora, a protester holding a placard inscribed with an ancient Persian poem, explained to me its meaning: “It says, ‘if we are killed, all of us one by one, it is better than giving our country to the enemy’.

“This is our country, we will not give up.”

The culture of resistance and unyielding demonstrated in today’s events also highlights the limitations of a strategy aimed at bombing Iran into submission from the air.
