Five Al Jazeera journalists have been killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza – including a reporter who is afraid he will be killed.

Anas Al Sharif died with four of his colleagues from the network: Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moiamen Aliwa.

The Committee to protect the new journalist (CPJ) expressed his “great” concerns about Al Sharif’s safety, and claimed him “was the target of the Israeli military stain campaign”.

Israel The defense forces confirmed the strike – and allegations of Al Sharif were “terrorists” who “served as head of terrorist cells in Hamas terrorist organizations”.

He claimed he “was responsible for advancing a rocket attack on Israeli civilians and IDF troops”.

Last month, the reporter said he lived with “the feeling that I could be bombed and martyred at any time” because his coverage of Israeli operations “endangered them and damaged their image in the world”.

On August 5, at least 186 journalists and media workers were killed Gaza – But foreign journalists have been prohibited from covering the war independently since the last conflict began in 2023.

The government managed by Hamas has described the murder of Israel against the five Al Jazeera journalists as “brutal and heinous”.

A statement added: “The murder was planned and intentional, following a direct targeting of deliberate from a journalist tent near Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

“Targeting journalists and media institutions by Israeli aircraft is a full war crime aimed at silencing the truth and eliminating traces of genocide crime.”

After Anas Al Sharif’s death, a post described as “Will and Testament” was posted on X.

The sound: “If my words reached you, know that Israel has managed to kill me and silence my voice.”

The 28-year-old added that he regretted being able to fulfill his dream of seeing his son and daughter growing up-accusing he had witnessed the children of being “destroyed by thousands of tons of bombs and Israeli missiles”.

“Don’t forget Gaza … and don’t forget me in your prayer for forgiveness and acceptance,” he wrote.

CPJ reported that his father was killed by Israeli air strikes at their family home in December 2023 after journalists received telephone threats from Israeli Army officers who ordered him to stop coverage.

Israel closed the Al Jazeera television network in the country in May last year.
