It Ends Square! Finidi’s Super Eagles Hold Boisterous Bafana Bafana

Nigeria forced a draw against South Africa in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Group C match, Friday, in Uyo.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru (46’) scored his first international goal to level for Nigeria after Themba Zwane (29′) gave South Africa a first-half lead.

Unfortunately, the Super Eagles number 10 would be stretched off as the game wore on after what appeared like a hamstring injury.

It was a pacy, end-to-end game but the two teams showed very little productivity in the final third and Bafana Bafana, particularly were guilty of a lacklustre end product, despite beating the Nigerian defence numerous times with their clever counter attacking play.

Hugo Broos will welcome the point, however, credit will go to the younger Coach, Finidi George for how he got to players to respond.

The Super Eagles will return to action next week in game day four fixtures, Nigeria away in Abidjan against Benin Republic.
