The Joint Revenue and Matriculation Council (Jamb) has released its analysis of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, highlighting the performance of underage candidates, overcoming the problem of violations and absence, and providing detailed statistical details of the overall score.
Jamb revealed that of the 40,247 underage candidates participating in 2025 UTME, only 467 – representing only 1.16% – reached a high enough score to be categorized as showing “extraordinary abilities.” This figure is taken from a total of 1,955,069 results processed for this year.
In a post on X (previously Twitter) through the official grip @jambhq, the examination agency stated that while this underage candidate was allowed to show their academic potential, “their performance in the next three stages is still delayed,” shows that the evaluation process for these candidates is ongoing.
Beyond the performance of a minor candidate, Jamb also explained “cases of violations and interrupted attendance” for 2025 UTME.
“As many as 97 candidates were involved in the examination violation,” Jamb said, added that “2,157 others were undergoing an investigation for alleged malpractice.”
The council also reported that “71,701 candidates did not exist” from the examination, although there were no immediate details from their non-participation reasons were provided.
Jamb further discussed the problem continuously from the challenges of biometric verification, stating, “Candidates who face biometric challenges are being investigated, and those who are cleaned will be rescheduled to be examined in the specified centers.”
The council also noted that “some results, including blind candidates and others in the Jeog group, are still being processed.”
