Joe Biden speaks after the diagnosis of cancer

Joe Biden expressed his gratitude for the Americans on Monday for their “love and support” after the former president of the United States said he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The back of the weekend according to which the 82 -year -old Democrat had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer and which had spread to his bones, has unleashed a relief of good wishes, including the current president Donald Trump, the vice -president of Biden Kamala Harris and the everyday Americans.

“Cancer touches us all. Like many of you, Jill and I learned that we are stronger in broken places”, the former president, whose son Beau Biden died of cancer in 2015, published on X with a photograph of him and his wife.

“Thanks for raising us with love and support,” he said.

Biden was diagnosed with the disease on Friday after experiencing urinary symptoms and a prostate lump was found, said a declaration of his office.

“Although this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, cancer seems to be sensitive to hormones that allows effective management. The president and his family are examining the therapeutic options with his doctors,” he added.

Trump, who has long mocked his cognitive skills and his four years in charge, said he was “saddened” by the news.

“We extend our hottest and best wishes to Jill and the family and we wish Joe a quick and successful recovery”, Trump, 78, published on Sunday on Truth Social.

Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men, with the American Cancer Society that reports that one in eight men in the United States is diagnosed in their lives.

Although it is highly curable if discovered in advance, it is the second main cause of death for cancer in men, said the organization.

Hormonal therapy is a common treatment that can reduce tumors and slow down the growth of cancer, but it is not a cure.
