Joke Silva advocates for the eradication of all forms of sexual harassment against women in Nollywood

Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has demanded the eradication of all forms of sexual harassment against women in the Nigerian film industry dubbed Nollywood.

The actor, who spoke at the Women in Film and TV Conference on Wednesday in Lagos, also challenged negative stereotypes in the film industry.

According to Joke who is the President of the Women in Film and TV Forum, Nigeria, the importance of women in the film industry is crucial in shaping our nation.

She said; “The importance of women’s roles in the film industry is crucial in shaping our nation, so we need a safe and conducive environment for them to thrive.

“All forms of sexual harassment in the film industry must be eradicated because sexual harassment has killed the nation in ways you cannot imagine.

“It is also important for us to get rid of any negative stereotypes in films, which depict things in a certain way, when in reality they are not.

“We also need more women in government to make policies and strengthen our position in this country,” Joke added.
