Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, said that the Democratic Party (PDP) of the people should not waste time in persuading former President of Goodluck Jonathan to return and fly his flag in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in television politics Channels today on Friday, Lamido described Jonathan as the only southern politician in the PDP with experience, stature, and temperament to reclaim the power of all Progressive Congress (APC).
“I think for PDP now, they must try to seduce him; he is their best bet,” Lamido said. “Whoever is proposed by PDP, Nigeria will support him … I don’t see other people, really.”

The PDP chief, who noted that Jonathan “understood governance” and “working well with others,” insisted there was no better alternative in the party if the president was categorized to the south.
Lamido’s statement added fuel to grow speculation on the possibility of Jonathan back to PDP. While the former president has not expressed interest, a calm lobby report and negotiation have made him the spotlight as one of the closest political figures watched before 2027.
