The Federal High Court (FHC) chapter of the union of the judicial staff of Nigeria (Jusun), on Monday, blocked judges, lawyers, staff members and the parties in question from the access to the Court following the indefinite strike declared by his national organ.
A check by the Nigeria press agency (NAN) at the FHC headquarters located along Shehu Shagari Way in Abuja revealed that all the entrance doors in the Skyscraper building were under block.
Judges, staff members, lawyers, content and public members has been denied access while commercial activities inside and around the Court have been paralyzed
Nan reports that Jusun’s National Corps had, on May 30 in a circular from his national acting secretary, MJ Akwashiki, asked all the presidents of his chapters to be in force from midnight on Sunday 1 June, directing all their members to stay at home.
He said that “this directive follows unsuccessful meetings in the application of the Minister of Labor and Remarking that was conciliatory for our question.
“We believe that, as indicated by the organs of the Union, of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Council (NEC) of our great union, the action will continue to further notice.
“Our requests are for the government to pay 5 months of salary, implement the minimum salary %70,000, as well as 25/35 %salary increase solidarity forever.”
The efforts to make a chat with some executive members of the union were not successful since they were said to be in a meeting.
Although there were news that some union chapters had withdrawn from industrial action, as at 9:48 am, the doors of the Federal High Court were still under block and keys.
