Just Justice in Uromi as 10 kidnappers are burned alive


In a disturbing turning point of events, 10 suspicions kidnappers with several assorted rifles, ranging from Ak47 to the rest were presumably burned alive by an angry crowd in Uromi, in the state of Edo, in the early hours of Thursday 27 March 2025.

The accident aroused concerns widespread for the jungle justice in the face of public anger.

According to the witnesses, the suspicions were arrested by local residents and subsequently were on fire.

According to reports, the community had become frustrated for the growing incidence of kidnapping in the area.

The Command of the Edo State Police has released a declaration that condemns the accident and soliciting the calm.

“We are aware of the unfortunate accident in Uromi and we are working to restore the order,” said a police spokesman.

“We urge the public to refrain from taking the law in their own hands and cooperating with the police,” said the police.

The accident raised concerns about the prevalence of extrajudicial violence in Nigeria.

Human rights activists, the lawyer Abraham Oviawe has condemned the living combustion of suspicions, citing the need for a fair trial and the protection of human rights.

The government of the Edo state has announced an investigation into the accident, promising to bring the managers to justice.
