The Kano State Government on Thursday evening ordered the police to remove the deposed Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, from his mini-palace in Nasarawa local government area of the state.
This was stated by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Haruna Dederi in a press conference at Government House, Thursday evening.
He said the state government had decided to rebuild the palace.
Justice Abdullahi Liman of the Federal High Court, Kano, earlier on Thursday annulled all actions taken by Governor Abba Yusuf following the May 23 amendment of the Kano State Emirates Law by the state House of Assembly.
The judge who delivered the judgment in the petition filed by the king of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Babba-Dan’agundi, faulted the governor’s decision to sign the bill and hand over the letter of appointment to Sanusi despite a court order directing all parties to keep their promises. status quo.
He emphasized that the crisis that occurred in the state could have been prevented if the state government complied with the court order which allowed them to continue carrying out their duties.
In the briefing, the commissioner said the state government was aware of the verdict.

He said: “The Kano State Government recognizes the decision of the Federal High Court regarding the Kano Emirates Council (Repeal) Law, 2024 and shares the same view of upholding the rule of law.
“Through the court ruling, it unequivocally reaffirms the validity of the law passed by the Kano State House of Assembly and approved by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State on Thursday 23 May 2024 at 17:10
“This part of the decision is fundamental to the whole matter. A further implication of this decision is that all actions taken by the Government before the temporary order of an honorable court appears, have the same force.
This means that the abolition of the five emirates formed in 2019 has been legalized and the dismissal of the five emirs is also supported by the court.
The implication is that Muhammadu Sanusi II remains the Emir of Kano. The judge also granted our request to stay the proceedings until the appellate court handles the appeal in its jurisdiction.”
