Kano Govt declares public holiday on Thursday to celebrate the new Islamic year

The government of the state of Kano declared a holiday on Thursday to commemorate the beginning of the new Islamic year, 1447 Ah.

The announcement was made in a statement by the commissioner for information and internal business, his partner Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya and released to the journalists of Kano.

Governor Abbar Kabir Yusuf has congratulated Muslims throughout the state for having witnessed the new Islamic year, which begins with the month of Muharram.

He urged the residents to reflect on their past actions and use the opportunity to pray for peace, unity and prosperity in Kano and in the nation in general.

The governor also reiterated the commitment of his administration in improving the well -being of citizens through inclusive and focused governance on people.
