The Deputy Commander-General of Kano State Hisbah Council, Dr Mujaheed Aminuddeen, has banned sports betting in Kano State.
Aminuddeen stated this yesterday when he spoke to journalists about Hisbah’s new efforts to eradicate immorality in the country.
He said Hisbah had relaunched the ‘operation to eliminate immorality’ and its perpetrators would soon take tough action against individuals and groups bent on violating social order in the state.
He warned that Hisbah would arrest any landlord who rents out apartments to unknown persons in view of the increasing cases of residential houses being used as guesthouses and motels in the city, emphasizing the Islamic Police’s efforts to restore sanity and discipline in the state.
He stated that the management had also issued new rules regarding dating, so that henceforth no prospective partner would be allowed to sit in a colored vehicle during the courtship period, especially at night.

Aminuddeen added that although begging on the streets is prohibited by law, women beggars who stay outside late at night will also be arrested.
He also announced that Hisbah was disturbed by the increasing rate of prostitution among young girls and therefore warned that any woman seen riding a tricycle after 10pm would also be arrested.
He said violations of any rules would be subject to heavy sanctions.
He appealed to parents to be vigilant about their children, especially girls, and prevent them from committing deviant acts that could violate any rules laid down across the state.
