The committee’s position was announced in a suspension letter signed by the ward chairman, Alhaji Danjuma Abubakar.

The Nigerian News Agency reports that a copy of the letter, addressed to Tsauri, was made available to journalists in Katsina on Sunday.

According to the ward’s executive committee, the decision was made at the committee’s meeting on September 14, pending the outcome of a disciplinary committee set up to investigate a series of allegations.

Tsuari has been accused of anti-party activities, making reckless statements against the party’s national leadership, and engaging in actions and associations that embarrass and discredit the party.

According to them, the suspension was in line with the provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which empowers neighbourhood party leaders to take disciplinary action against defaulting members.

The committee further stated: “We urge all members of our great party to remain faithful to the principles of party discipline and loyalty.

“We must work together to build a strong and united party, capable of winning elections and serving the interests of our people.”

Responding to the suspension, the party’s spokesperson in the state, Alhaji Lawal Audi-Yar’adua, confirmed that he had received the suspension letter from the senator’s protégé.

Audi-Yar’adua said the party had established a commission to investigate the allegations against the senator, adding that regardless of the status of each member, the party would respect the provisions of the Constitution in its dealings with its members.

Responding to his suspension, Tsauri said that the party’s district and state branches did not have the constitutional powers to suspend him from the post of former National Secretary without following due process.

According to him: “I have not been sent any suspension letter, I have only seen it circulating on social media, written to the party chairman, the local government of Kurfi.”

He explained that the party has its own rules and regulations “and before any action is taken against a member, certain procedures must be followed.”

NAN recalls that the PDP in Katsina State is divided into two factions, one led by Tsauri and Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, former Director of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council, while the other faction is led by Senator Lado Danmarke, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections.
