Kidnapped maritime worker reportedly regains freedom

The 10 maritime workers kidnapped by suspected pirates in Rivers State have reportedly regained their freedom.

The workers were kidnapped by bandits along the Bonny – Port Harcourt waterway on September 2.

A security source told reporters on Saturday that the kidnappers abandoned the victims at Onne channel when they became aware of members of the Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB), Bonny, who were trailing them.

He added that the workers had been reunited with their families after undergoing medical treatment.
