Know the young athletes that rise through MTN Champs

Sports have always been a source of pride for Nigeria with athletics that include sprint, jumps and monitoring of events that produce exceptional world -class athletes for the country.

However, for many young athletes, the path to success is full of challenges and can be difficult due to the lack of financing and adequate training facilities. That’s where MTN champions enter. A path for many of these budding talents has been paved since this innovative base athletics meeting began in 2023 so that participants show their skills, receive quality training and pursue professional careers in sports.

In just two years, this competition has changed thousands of lives, giving them opportunities. While we anticipate the long -awaited third season, we are excited to see another lot of athletes ready to shine on the MTN Champs platform. But before entering the future and their infinite possibilities, let’s celebrate the stars that were born in MTN Champs.

Atlético dream came true. Jane was discovered in 2023 as a young promising sprinter, this obtained her admission at the Making of Champions Academy (MOC) based in Lagos, where she now trains with Deji Aliu, an Olympic medalist.

Reflecting on your trip, Jane describes the transformation as life changes. “I was discovered in MTN Champs in 2023,” Jane said. “Now in 2025, I am returning not only as a competitor, but as one of the main MVP. While in Moc [Making of Champs] The academy in Lagos and sponsored by MTN has changed everything. I am training below [olympic medalist] The coach Deji Aliu, surrounded by teammates who push me every day. This is really a dream come true. ”

Jane’s trip to become one of the most promising track stars is the result of structured tutoring, elite coaching.

Showers Ushie is one of Breakout stars with high talent and skills that impressed the Scouts during the MTN 2023 champions. His effort not only earned him a place at the Moc Academy, but also made him one of the ten best MVP in the season. Now, Ushie has developed new skills and techniques that exceed the competitive standards known in multiple events.

The showers reflected on how the platform shaped their trip: “I competed in Benin’s edition in 2023 and I was chosen as one of the 10 main MVP. It has been an incredible experience in the academy since then. My older brother introduced me to the opportunity, and now I am back to run the 100 million this time in the senior category.”

His younger brother, Prosper Ushie, followed his steps, demonstrating that talent runs in the family. Despite his father’s initial resistance, Prosper challenged the probabilities by ensuring a bronze medal in the 400 -meter race of Junior children, reinforcing the transforming power of MTN champions to change lives and change perceptions about athletics.

“At first, my dad didn’t want me to compete because I thought two children in sports were enough,” Prosper shared. “But I kept concentrated, and I ended up winning bronze in the 400 meters of the Junior children. Entering the Moc Academy felt that all the effort had been worth it. The training and support of MTN and Moc have changed their lives.”

From Benin to Lagos, the final stage of MTN Champs season 3 will take place in UYO at the Godswill Akpabio stadium from April 30 to May 3.
