Kogi sets October 19 for regional head elections

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission has announced October 19 as the date for local government elections across the state, following a recent Supreme Court ruling that declared the interim committees running local government affairs across the country illegal.

According to Mamman Eri, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, the decision to set the date is in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution and the powers given to the state Electoral Commission. He stressed that a detailed schedule has been prepared to ensure a transparent, fair and credible election process.
