The objectives of Yusuf Kareem (7 ‘), Yusuf Olatunji (43’) and Saheed Aderibigbe (47 ‘) had apparently sealed the victory for Kwara United, but two rapid fire goals of the opposition revived the tension in the closing stages.

Despite the late drama, Kwara United kept the nerve to lift the historical title.

His triumph was not only a testimony of tactical discipline but also individual brilliance. Coach Abdulkadir Jimoh was appointed best coach of the tournament, the goalkeeper’s sheriff took home the best goalkeeper award, while Mohammed Abdullahi was voted as the most valuable player (MVP).

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of the state of Kwara added more prestige to the occasion with his presence in the stands, personally presenting medals to players and officials. His participation stressed the increasing commitment of the administration with base sports development.

Speaking after the victory, coach Jimoh praised the resistance of his children and praised the club’s management for supporting the youth project. “Winning the first edition of this league means a lot. It shows what can happen when hard work meets the opportunity,” he said.

Victoria marks an important milestone in Kwara United’s youth development trip and positions the club as a reference point to foster young talents in Nigerian football.
