Lagos CP warns against attacks by #EndBadGovernance protesters

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, has warned residents of the state against attacking protesters.

Fayoade made the call while addressing traditional and community leaders in Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe and Lagos Island local government areas during a town hall meeting on Saturday.

A group of Nigerians have called for nationwide protests with the hashtag: #EndBadGovernce to express their dissatisfaction over the economic hardship and other problems plaguing the country.

The protests are scheduled to take place from August 1 to 10.

He said: “If there has to be a protest, it has to be peaceful. We want to know who is going to protest so we can arrange their security.

“You have the right to protest legally as long as it does not interfere with the rights of others.

“Any group planning violent protests should think twice. Such groups will be met with the police and other security agencies. We do not want a repeat of #EndSARS.

“It is the duty of citizens to provide the police with up-to-date information about any groups planning violent protests, not their duty to attack those groups.’

Traditional and community leaders decided there would be no protests in the state.

They praised the J Police Commander, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, for tackling crime in the area.

The leaders also commended the CP for the recent killing of nine kidnappers in Mushin area of the state.
