The Lagos state government has mandated all hospitality operators – including hotels, events, and nightclubs – to secure formal approval from the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lastma) for proper parking and traffic control.
This instruction is contained in a joint statement issued by General Manager of Laspa, Adelabu Adebisi, and General Manager Lastma, Bakare-Oki Olarekan, at the parking authority office on Thursday.
According to the statement, the move became necessary to curb the parking lots and traffic jams caused by the hospitality business throughout Lagos.

“The general manager requires hospitality business owners who operate in Lagos to ensure compliance with parking regulations and state traffic by registering and obtaining approval from the parking and lastma authority or facing prosecution according to the 2018 Lagos State Transportation Sector Reform Law,” the statement said.
He noted that Laspa and Lastma, which operated under the Ministry of Transportation of the State of Lagos, worked in partnerships to keep the country free from traffic barriers and to promote safer and smoother roads.
The statement emphasized that Laspa was responsible for proper parking management while Lastma oversees traffic regulations. Although their mandate is different, the two institutions “work in harmony with the actualization of the agenda of the state government in traffic management and transportation.”
