The event was an opportunity for Lagos basketball players and coaches to be part of the reflective and mentoring program aimed at enhancing their skills and abilities as well as blending in with the craze of the dunk game.
Addressing the participants, Fatodu emphasized the importance of the clinic for their personal development as it would also motivate them to increase the level of their performance, learning from the experiences of someone who has played the game globally.
He acknowledged the role of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his efforts in ensuring that the state remains at the center of the conversation on sports development in Nigeria.
Furthermore, he stated that the State values the partnership with the former basketball player in the areas of development and capacity building, as the government will continually consider any initiative that tends to contribute positively to the development of the sport.
“We need to constantly extend our hand of fellowship to organizations like ACAN and individuals like Mr. Aloysius so that they can help in areas where we believe there are gaps. It is very important that we maintain that type of commitment in the future.”
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Damilare Orimoloye, noted that this is a significant initiative and collaboration that will not be limited to basketball.
He also urged the participants to seize the opportunity and stay focused, intensifying their training to achieve maximum potential.
Former basketball international, Aloysius Anagonye, spoke to the participants about the fundamental practice of basketball and his intention to contribute to the growth of players in Nigeria.
“Doing things in Nigeria is a dream I have had for a long time. My purpose now is to make people on the field understand the fundamental skills in the game of basketball.”
