Law enforcement operations targeted by the Environmental Task Force and Special Violations of the State of Lagos have led to the arrest of 20 people in Gowon Estate and Egbeda, famous for peddling drugs.
The raid, which was carried out on Wednesday, resulted in the recovery of various illegal substances and cash that were believed to be a result of their criminal activities.
This operation focuses on black spots known in the Gowon Estate, including 31 crossing roads, Wole Omo-Osho, and Idoani roads, and the Egbeda market area located along the Egbeda-Idimu road.
The Ministry of Environment and Water Resources Lagos confirmed in a statement that an emergency stall located at the Idoani Street crossing, which was identified through intelligence reports as a safe place for drug sales and consumption by criminal elements, was fully dismantled during the operation.
Commissioner of State for Environmental and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, praised the quick action of the task force on his official X grip on Thursday, issuing a strong warning to criminals who operate with informal trade guards.
