Last year medicine student, father, brother kidnapped after visiting the governor

The state government of Katsina said that the winner of the Koranic acting competition, Abdulsalam Rabiu-Faskari, his father and brother were still alive, but in custody of their kidnappers.

This was contained in a declaration by the Commissioner for information and culture, Dr. Bala Salisu-Zango, Friday in Katsina.

The victims were kidnapped two days ago on their way to Faskari by Katsina, after they were honored by the governor Dikko Radda, for his exceptional performance during the National Corane National Competition held in Kebbi.

Salisu-Zango said that Nigeria would represent in the acting of the whole Koran at the next international edition of the competition.

“The attention of the state government of Katsina was attracted by recent media reports and by the messages of condolences contained in a declaration signed by a special consultant by the governor of Kebbi for the media and advertising.

“It was as a result that the winner kidnapped of the National Corane Acting Competition, Hafizul Coran and medical student of the last year of Abu of the State of Katsina, Abdussalam Rabiu-Faskari was killed by his kidnappers.

“We appreciate the gentle gesture, the concern and compassion shown by Kebbi’s government for the unfortunate accident.

“However, we want to say that the winner of the Korranian acting competition, Rabiu-Faskari, his father and brother were really kidnapped by the bandits.

“But the information that reaches the government indicate that they are still alive and healthy in the custody of their kidnappers,” he said.

Salisu-Zango also said that from Friday, their kidnappers asked for a redemption of n30 million from their family.

Commissioner Radda described the kidnapping of the young talented student, together with his father and brother, as unfortunate.

“My heart is with victims, their family, their relatives and friends and please regain freedom safely.

“The government will undertake concrete actions for rescue and guarantee the safe return of all the kidnapped victims, since the rescue effort is implemented,” said Radda.

The governor then urged the security agents to put all his hands on the bridge to ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

Radda reiterated his administration’s commitment to face the prevalent security challenges in the state.

He also invited the people to pray fervently for the security and freedom of Rabiu-Faskari and all the others in the hands of those evil kidnappers.
