Lasu Staff Union closed the campus, stating an unlimited strike of unliled demands

Lagos State University (Lasu) academic and non-academic staff have begun unlimited strikes, effectively killing operations at the main campus of institutions and affiliated centers in Ikeja and Epe.

The strike, which officially began on Thursday, July 31, 2025, was jointly declared by four main staff unions at the university for unresolved welfare issues and other problems remaining with the management of the institution.

In a joint letter addressed to the Deputy Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, a trade union-which consists of a University Academic Staff Union (ASUU), Senior Staff Association from Nigeria University (SSANU), Non-academic technology (Nasus Teknogasi (Nasu), National Association of Academation (Nasu), National National on Accudation (Nasu), Nasional on Accudation (Nasu), National National on Accudation (Nasu) Accudational (Nasu), Nasus Accudation Accuction (NASU), Nasus Niberation Accucational (NASU), Nasus Accuction Accuction (Nasu), Nasus Niberac Accuction Accuction (Nasu) with a rounded voice in agreement at the Emergency Congress of the Action Committee.

Entitled “Notification of Unlimited Starting Actions,” The letter was signed by Prof. Ibrahim Bakare (Chair, Asuu-Lasu), Sylvester Idowu (Secretary, Asuu-Lasu), Oluwaseyi Lawal (Chair, Ssanu-Lasu), and Wajekodunmi (Secretary, Ssan, Ssan, Ssanu).

It was read in part: “The sequel to the decision achieved at the Emergency Congress of the Combined Action Committee from the Lagos State University Staff Union (Asuu-Lasu, Ssanu-Lasu, Naat-Lasu & Nasu-Lasu) that the unlimited strike will start from Thursday 31 July, 2025, we write to give to you that the indefining, Thursday in July 31, 2025 League, 2025.

The union is categorized in their request for the full resolution of all extraordinary staff complaints before the strike will be suspended.

“The strike action will apply without a time limit until all the demands of staff members are fulfilled by the appropriate authority,” the letter continued.

They also instructed all staff throughout the university campus to stop working immediately.

“As a result, all members of his university staff and affiliate campuses (Lasucom and Lasu Epe Campus) with this are directed to attract their services and empty their official duties immediately.”

Concluding the notification, the union acknowledged the efforts of the Kankelir representative in the past but insisted that their decision could not be avoided: “While we are grateful for your good movements and support, accept, please, please, guarantee the best greetings from the trade union.”

At the time of the press, university management has not issued an official response to development.
