The Northern Traditional Ruler Council (NTRC), led by Sultan Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has condemned the increasing wave of murder and unrelenting sense in the region and has warned the President of the Tinubu ball about the consequences if the government fails to end them.
The Sultan who expressed deep frustration of the situation of insecurity in the north during the 7th NTRC executive committee meeting in Maiduguri, the state of Borno on Tuesday, said the traditional rulers were more concerned about the worsening situation than politicians and called for decisive actions from the government led by Tinubu to stop the naughty calculations that damaged the region.
Speaking with the theme “Improved security as a panacea for stability and northern development,” Sultan said:
“Our birth together as a traditional rulers in the north, I believe we have more than 86 in the north. We will talk with one voice to say ‘enough is enough’ from the murder of innocent people who don’t make sense throughout the north and throughout the country.
“We have released so many statements of criticism, but how many times we need to condemn this murder in front of our political leaders and security institutions stop or reduce insecurity in the country as minimal as possible?
“We, traditional rulers, feel bad and sad when our people are killed by people we don’t know.
“It is time for us to work harder, talk to ourselves and in a closed door meeting discuss it. We will tell our political leaders, they are at the top of the leadership of the affairs and we will work with them.

“As traditional ruler, we do not compete with our state governor, we only help them. We will not and will never compete with political leadership or governor,” he stressed.
Also talking about the revival of the Boko Haram sect in the state, the NTRC leader said:
“We hear a few comments that Boko Haram will return, and I say God willing (God who wants) God who will give us strength and in a way that defeats them
“Yes, there is a sense of insecurity in some parts of Borno, but there is insecurity everywhere in the world, not only in Nigeria.
“For some of us who have traveled around the world, more people are killed in several developed countries every day than the total number of people killed in Nigeria in one month or two months.
“What happened at Plateau yesterday (Monday) and in a week, more than 100 people were killed. Very bad because people emerged from a place, killing you and they were never arrested.
“Before they, people were killed in Sokoto on Sallah Day, killed in Kebbi, and so many other places. If you gather the total number of people killed in the country in the past month, it is very high.
“In every tribe or religion, there are good and bad eggs. So, don’t see some people and say it is the cause of our problem.”
