Legendary Greek singer Marinella suffered a massive stroke while performing on stage

A famous Greek singer was admitted to intensive care on Wednesday night, after suffering a stroke during a concert at the historic Odeon theatre located beneath the Acropolis in Athens.

Video taken from the audience shows 86-year-old folk singer Marinella collapsing on stage during the Herodes Atticus memorial service, which took place at the Roman-era Odeon.

The disturbing scene that sent shivers down the spines of his fans occurred right after the start of the concert when he sang the chorus of one of his biggest hits “Me and You”.

Featuring a large orchestra and renowned Greek singer Antonis Remos, this concert is a tribute to the long career of Marinella, who is considered the great woman of Greek folk music.

A statement from the hospital where she was being treated revealed that Marinella, whose career has spanned more than six decades, had suffered a “serious vascular stroke” and was being treated in intensive care.
