Like the father, Aruna’s daughter to compete in the Ittf youth championship

Mariam Aruna, daughter of the Nigerian Table Tennis icon Aruna, is ready to make her debut for the country at the Ittf Africa Youth Championships, scheduled for Sunday 27 July to Sunday 3 August at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The twelve year old is part of the team of the U-15 girls from Nigeria together with Fatimoh Ahmed, Chinenye Okafor and Aziza Sezuo.

They will compete against the players of 10 other nations, including Egypt, Tunisia, Uganda and South Africa.

Before the continental event, Mariam who is trained by her mother, Ganiyat Aruna made her debut with a WTT contender in Lagos on Wednesday.

At the beginning of this year, she and her brothers ensured the podium at the table tennis tournament by João Monteiro in Portugal.

Quadri Aruna has remained a force not to be underestimated as long as table tennis is worried in Africa.

He has maintained a number one position in the Ittf ranking in recent years, despite the Egyptian rivalry of Omar Assad.
