Gov Inuwa Yahaya

The professionals of the Christian youth of the North (NCYP) praised the governor of the State of Gombe, Alhaji Muhammado Inuwa Yahaya, for his constant support for the financial autonomy of the local government, in line with the judgment of the Supreme Court of 2024.

The reference sentence reiterated the constitutional authority of the councils of the local government to manage their funds independently, free from the interference of the state government.

According to the declaration, the president, northern of young Christian professionals (NCYP), Isaac Abrak said that the decision of Inuwa Yahaya to grant the presidents of the local government in the state of tires full control over their funds without undue interference was a testimony of his respect for the rule of law and the commitment for basic development.

He observed that: “His actions not only demonstrate compliance with the directive of the Supreme Court, but also reflect his dedication to strengthening democracy and promoting sustainable development at the local level. This also shows his alignment with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fight poverty and insecurity by enhancing the 774 advice of the local government directly throughout Nigeria. “

The NCYP has urged all the Nigerians, in particular other state governors, to emulate the exemplary leadership of the governor inuwa Yahaya. He showed a remarkable integrity by refusing to manipulate the joint account and allocation system (Jaac), which in some states has been used to deviate the funds intended for the advice of the local government. Instead of exploiting administrative gaps, it has allowed local councils to manage and directly allocate resources for the benefit of their communities.

Abrak said: “We also recognize the crucial role of financial regulation agencies such as the Commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) and the independent commission of corrupt practices (ICPC) in guaranteeing transparency and responsibility in managing funds. In particular, the President of the FCC, OLA OLUKOYEDE, stressed that the presidents of the local government do not enjoy immunity and that the Commission is actively monitoring their activities through the new risk assessment and control system (FRAC) new constitution. This initiative acts as a deterrent to bad management, ensuring that the funds intended for basic development are used appropriately.

“In addition, we urge the presidents of the 11 areas of the local government in the State of Gombe to support the trust of them placed by the Governor Inuwa Yahaya and the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They must guarantee transparent and effective use of these funds to improve the lives of basic citizens. In this way, they will serve from role models for their counterparts throughout the country. “

The NCYP also invited the Federal Committee responsible for the implementation of the financial autonomy of the local government, led by the secretary to the government of the Federation, the Senator George Akume, to provide updates ready for the progress and challenges faced.

“This reform is a pro-massa, national initiative and the public commitment is vital for its success.

“However, the public can carry out its part effectively only if it is adequately informed and carried out in the implementation process,” said the group.

A strong and financially independent local government system is essential for Nigeria’s progress and democratic consolidation. “
