Jonathan during the SCARS public presentation, a book written by a former defense staff, General Lucky Irabor (RTD), remembered that the terror group nominated Buhari to lead negotiations with the Federal Government in 2012.
However, in a statement issued immediately afterwards. Shehu warned the former president not to play politics with the rebellion of Boko Haram because of the aspirations of the 2027 presidential election.
He said: “Muhamed Yusuf or Abubakar Shekau, the leaders who died from the terrorist group Boko Haram, never nominated Muhammadu Buhari for such a role.
“In fact, Shekau routinely condemned and threatened Buhari, and their ideology was in direct conflict.”
He remembered that the late Buhari was narrowly survived from the Boko Haram bomb attack in Kaduna in 2014.
Shehu added: “Being president in 2027, Goodluck Jonathan must look for another story to tell the Nigerians … To win in 2027, Dr. Jonathan must find a better story to be told to Nigerians.”
