Lookman, Osimhen lead Super Eagles past Benin in AFCON qualifiers

Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen were on target for Nigeria’s Super Eagles as they beat Benin Republic on Saturday night.

The match played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo was the first match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying series.

Nigeria, led by interim coach Austin Eguavoen, secured a 3-0 win to start their journey to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations on a high.

Two goals from Lookman and one from Osimhen were enough to give Eguavoen a vital win in his first game as Super Eagles caretaker coach.
