The Miyetti Cattle Breeder Association of God Nigeria (Macban), has appealed to the President of the Ball Ahmed Tinubu to issue the President’s order to mandate the security agencies to ensure effective security for the shepherd community throughout the country.
Macban National Secretary General, Alhaji Bello Gotomo, who appealed in a statement on Friday in Abuja, also urged the federal government to end all forms of alleged discriminatory practices of the shepherds in the country.
Gotomo said the Fulani people had faced continuous discrimination, ethnic profiles, and persecution in Nigeria and only executive orders by the president would stop them.
Secretary Macban further reiterated the need for national security advisers to implement concrete steps to overcome alleged ethnic profiles, stigmatization and preachers.
Gotomo quoted a new incident about the alleged arrest that violated the law and inhuman treatment of Fulani herds in the Opere Market in Kabba, the Kogi Regional Government, which he described as part of an increase in the trend of injustice.
He also appealed to the National Human Rights Commission and International Agencies to intervene, highlighting a sustainable complaint about the ethnic preachers of the Fulani herds in connection with national security issues.
“The Association of Miyetti Cattle Breeders Allah Nigeria called for the federal government, the National Human Rights Commission and the International Community to immediately intervene, ‘the statement rang.
“The Nigerian government must ensure accountability, justice, and protection for all citizens regardless of ethnicity,” Gotomo said.
